In the spirit of Janmashtami (a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna), we are highlighting a micro-entrepreneur closely associated with Rangoli! Rangoli is a form of art in which dyed powder is used to create paintings on living room floors and courtyards of Indian homes. It is a widely practiced tradition, especially during Hindu festivals such as Holi, Diwali and of course, Janmashtami. And the significance of painting rangolis on courtyards and close to doorways is that it’s believed to welcome the gods of wealth, prosperity, fortune and luck.

Because of its popularity, especially during festivals, Rangoli powder is in demand all year round. This is particularly exciting for our newest micro-entrepreneur - Mrs. Selvi, a micro-business owner who produces rangoli powder, hence thriving on the big demand for base materials needed to create these Rangolis.
But keeping up with high demand is quite the challenge. “At the moment, we rely on one bullock-cart for all our distribution needs and seeing as it is not the most efficient, we really hope to upgrade to a mechanized lorry,” says Mrs. Selvi in response to why she needs the InVenture InVestment.
The full potential of a business can only be reached when a sustainable distribution network is established, the most important component of which is a reliable mode of transportation.
Currently, demand surpasses the quantity that can be delivered to clients using one bullock-cart. Hence, Mrs. Selvi has started rationing sales to some of her clients to allow the distribution network to grow far and wide. Updating her transport mechanism will not only establish a reliable and more efficient distribution network but also allow her to keep up with rising demands.
Flexible growth capital will also mean that Mrs. Selvi can employ additional hired staff of 3 people - an amazing multiplier effect from your InVestment that creates jobs for 3 individuals! This staff will form a sales division to help distribute goods to her growing demand for clientele.
At InVenture, we believe your InVestment can add a dash of color to Mrs. Selvi’s growing Rangoli business and help her meet her flourishing high customer demands!
